![]() Hair Products Review
This post is going to be a review on some hair product, so very girlish ^.^ Starting off, the most fundamental things: shampoo & conditioner. I'm starting off by saying that if you skip either of these things when it's time to clean your hair; DON'T Shampoo's function is to clean out your hair, and get deep into your roots to flush out all the old oils and dirt that collects. When doing your shampoo; bring out your claws. Don't be rough, your scalp is a delicate part of your head, but it needs to have a through cleansing. Make sure you lather the shampoo right into your roots, massaging it into your head. Rule: Don't pile your hair onto your head when using shampoo. You only need to work the roots. This causes damages and dried out your ends even more. Conditioner's function is to add moisture back into your hair, to get it back into 'condition'. The conditioner is a very tricky one though, and how much you use depends on your type of hair. After your done using shampoo, very gently squeeze as much water as you can out of your hair. Do not, for any reason, twist and squeeze your hair as tight as possible. This will cause damage to your hair. After getting the water out, apply your conditioner to the very ends of your hair, and work your way upward, adding a little more. Leave in for a the very least, three minutes before washing out. Rule: Don't rub conditioner into your roots anywhere on your scalp, because your adding to your hairs' naturally produced oils, and your hair will get oily very quickly and produce dandruff. I tend to use Herbal Essences because it works for my hair, unlike so many brands. Different hair will respond to different brands, so you just have to experiment. Make sure that you use the product right, though, or their won't be any noticeable difference.
Next, the optional products. Which are just some products I sometimes use, after washing my hair and sometime later on if I'm going to style it to go out somewhere. Not really mandatory. 1) Hair Spray The one I had ran out, but to be honest it wasn't very good. Like I said, different products act different or different hair, so experiment. This product is good for holding your hair together, especially when you've curled it to make them last longer. TIP: When using hairspray, I tend to first spray it into my hands and that way, I can more accurately spread the stuff precisely where I want it, and it does a more thorough job rather than outright spraying it. Unless it's an up do, of course.
2) Styling Mist This product really isn't a must-have, but I really like using (my one especially) it. The one I have is mainly for straight hair and it also has heat protection, but I don't use it for that. I love to first spray about 2/3 squirts into my hands, rub together and spread through my hair before styling it. Not mention the stuff smells delicious. 3) Hair Gel I refuse to include an example of this, because the stuff is just nasty. Is it good for your hair? No. I hate the sticky feeling it begins with and the hard matted stuff it ends as. But, if your into absolute perfection when it comes to hair, try only using a tiny bit mixed with water to apply to your hair. I don't recommend gel at all though. 4) Hair clay/mousse Okay, I have the most un-poofy, flat hair that could ever exist. What I want is to have some volume and texture and look, in my hair. I haven't experimented too much with these uplifting products, so I'm not such an expert, but if I'm having a really bad hair day I use some mousse on my roots, but I don't use hair clay's because they just make my hair feel heavy and thick. 5) Anti-Frizz Stuff Admittedly, this product is mainly for girls with naturally curly hair but straight-hair girls do sometimes get frizzed up, especially after blow drying. I squeeze a tiny 2 drops of this, rub it a little between the tips of my hands and apply throughout the hair. After that I use my trusty comb to spread it evenly so I don't frizz up too much in rainy/humid weather. Tip: D-Frizz is a fairly expensive brand; but anti-frizz isn't a necessity. Also its a pretty oily product, make sure you know what you're doing with it...unlike my first time.... 6) Dry shampoo I personally believe that this is the worst product invented. At least gel has some use. This, on the other hand, nearly made half my hair fall out and go dry and brittle. However, every one has different hair, so by all means, try some of the stuff. Don't spray directly onto your skull, or spray too much, because your hair will turn white. At least, mine did. Go Google it if you like, but I think it is a waste of time and money and well, hair. 7) Heat Protection I use the product below, and it's about $20-$30 dollars depending on where you get it, but it is very good at what it does. Now that I use it properly, I'm not getting terrible damage and horrific split ends as I did before. (I've stopped cutting my hair in class at school and complaining to my friends too) I recommend spending the money on this if your a frequent blow-dryer or you perm your hair or straighten it every day. I give on spray on my crown, one spray under my hair, and two spray specifically on the roots, and then I rub my hair gently to make sure it absorbs the product prior to using heat. So that's all! I hoped you learned something new. This post was pretty long. Girls do do a lot to look fabulous. In one of my next posts, I'll put all the tools I use to make the magic. Look out for it! Cat |
